The Summer School on "Functionality of Correlated Materials" took place in Frauenwoerth im Chiemsee, 20 - 24 July 2015. The tutorials and lectures covered the broad research field of the Transregio 80 with special focus on the emergence of functionality from correlation effects.

In continuation of the successful first Summer School in 2012 the topics of the 2nd Summer School covered electronic correlations in bulk materials, heterostructures, and thin films including, for example, multiferroics, Heusler compounds and HTSC materials. They focused on the emergence of functionality from correlation effects and their transfer and relevance in real-world applications.

The program included short presentations of participants, poster sessions, and plenty of discussion time. There was also a hiking tour to the nearby mountains of the Alps or a visit to the famous Bavarian "Castle Herrenchiemsee" of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.

The Summer School was aimed at Master and PhD students as well as PostDocs within the Transregio 80 and the Associated Partners.
