SS 2012

May 7, 2012

At the last IGS Forum it was discussed to make an excursion to a company with relation to functional materials. Therefore, a visit to Osram Opto Semiconductors in Regensburg was organized on Monday, May 7th. At this site the LED branch has its R&D departement.

Program:

TimeTopic
14.00 - 14.30
Unternehmensvorstellung (Fr. Ernst)
14:30 - 15:15 Präsentation Reinraum (Hr. Arlt)
15:15 - 16:00 Werksführung (Hr. Arlt)
16:00 - 16:30 Präsentation "Advanced Concepts & Engineering" (Hr. Sabathil)

It has been a very interesting trip with insights to the fabrication process of actual solid state devices. The tour around the production line showed how science turns into products.

In the discussion, it was decided by the YRs to keep the new format with two visits each semester, as it proved to them to be of great value. In additon, its was suggested to make an excursion to a company which is thematically related to the TRR 80. Suggestions are collected and will be discussed further at the next forum day, taking place at the end of the semester in Garching.

Constitutional meeting of the YR-Forum

The constitutional meeting of the YR-Forum was held on Wednesday, 30.6.2010, 13:00-15:00. In Augsburg, it took place in room 4A 403/S, and was transmitted via video conference to Munich.

The main part was to get to know each other, to tell in app. 2 minutes about who you are and roughly what you are doing. Furthermore, we wanted to explain once again the purpose of the YR-Forum and to fix the schedule for the next few meetings.

Idea of the Youg Researchers Forum

To provide status reports on the YRs' own work and stimulate in-depth scientific discussions among YRs of the different projects, the YR Forum is organized as a biweekly seminar. The seminar will be transmitted via a video conference system between the different locations in Munich and Augsburg.
