Admission to the TRR80 IGS

Application to become a member of the TRR80 IGS is possible for all Ph.D. students within the TRR 80. For students of the TUM additional steps are mandatory (see below).

Application to the TRR80 IGS

The following documents are mandatory for all applicants:

  1. Application for Admission to TRR80 IGS

  3. Letter of motivation
  4. Two external letters of support (download .docx example, non-editable pdf version: here)

Please send your application for the TRR80 IGS to one of the coordinators of the FTU.

If you have any questions please contact the coordinators as well. They will help you to finish your application.

Your application will be forwarded to the FTU Board which decides by vote if it will be approved.

Application to the TUM Faculty Graduate Center of the Physics Department

This procedure is mandatory only for students of the TUM.

The TUM graduate school (TUM GS) is organized in interdisciplinary "Thematic Graduate Centers" and "Faculty Graduate Centers". At the TUM the TRR80 IGS is integrated in the Faculty Graduate Center Physics (FGC Physics) . Therefore it is necessary for TUM students to also apply for admission in the TUM FGC Physics using the following forms:

  1. "Mitgliedsantrag" for the TUM FGC Physics
  2. "Betreuungsvereinbarung"
