Short Summary

Die evolution of strong correlations under extreme conditions are investigated in selected material systems such as Heusler compounds, transition metal and rare earth diborides as well as systems featuring string geometric frustration. Of particular interest are metals with localised moments and the transition towards a weakly spin-polarised state under large hydrostatic and uniaxial pressures. Using two modular set-ups for focusing neutron guides, developed during the first two funding periods, neutron depolarization as well as elastic and inelastic neutron scattering are used in combination with bespoke Moissanite pressure cells developed for these experiments. These experimental studies are complemented by measurements of transport abd bulk properties under extreme conditions.
