Many-Body Localization in Condensed Matter Settings

M. Knap, F. Pollmann

Short Summary

In the proposed project, we will investigate many-body localization (MBL) in condensed matter settings by addressing fundamental questions regarding the stability of MBL in open quantum systems and proposing new dynamical probes to guide future experiments. In particular, we will theoretically investigate the effects of coupling to phonons, dephasing, and quantum noise on MBL systems. To efficiently simulate relevant model systems, we will development new numerical techniques based on matrix-product states.
