Short Summary
Single crystals of intermetallic compounds with complex forms of spin, charge, lattice and orbital order are prepared by means of optical float-zoning, using a bespoke preparation chain of ultra-pure crystal growth systems developed and optimised in the first two funding periods. The metallurgical and physical properties of the crystals grown are determined by means of a combination of different methods, putting emphasis on x-ray and neutron diffraction. Scientific focus of the project are subtle forms of coupling between different degrees of freedom, supporting non-trivial topological properties in real and reciprocal space.
