To promote the scientific exchange among young scientists beyond specific collaborations a YR workshop of three or four days is organized and run by the YRs every second year. Participants present results of their work and general discussions between the participants are strongly promoted.
The last Young Researcher Workshop is planned from 11 October to 14 October 2021 at Riva del Garda, Italy. The program includes a one and a half days rhetoric training course with a focus on improving your presentation skills. The course is given by Karina Hagemann from 'Mensch und Kommunikation'. Various events like evening and outdoor activities are scheduled.
The registration starts on 1. March 2021 until 31. March 2021 by sending a mail to Vera Bader (vera.bader@physik.uni-augsburg.de). Please be aware that the there is a limit of 20 participants. First come, first serve! IGS members will be favored.
If the situation does not allow the workshop to take place face-to-face, the workshop will be held in a digital form.
The fifth Young Researchers Workshop took place from 8th to 11th October already for the fourth time at Hotel Luise in Riva del Garda, Italy. Cental part of the trip was a one and a half day workshop on project management given by Prof. Dr. Andreas Schutkin. Additionally, all participants prepared presentation on so-called IGnobel prizes. A joint excursion on a "via ferrata" and social evenigs favoured the scientific and personal exchange among the participants.
The 4th YR Workshop of the TRR 80 took again place in Riva del Garda at lake Garda from October 11th to 14th 2016 in Hotel Luise.
The aim of this workshop was to strengthen the scientific exchange among the young scientists.
The program:
Highlight was a workshop by M. Neumann, focussing on communication techniques, which should help the YRs when giving talks or applying for a job.
The lake Garda is beautiful even in the fog.
For the group photo, even the sun came out!
There was even a "conference cat" (apparently alive!).
The 3rd YR Workshop of the TRR 80 took place in Riva del Garda at lake Garda from September 24th to 27th 2014 in Hotel Luise.
The aim of this workshop wass to promote the scientific exchange among young scientists beyond specific TRR 80 collaborations.
The program contained:
- 20 min talks given by the participants about "general physics" (e.g. "physics of archery")
- a soft-skill seminar (How can I do more work in shorter time?)
- an outdoor team-building event
All participating PhD students gave a talk in the above category. For all other participants it was optional.

News about the physics of curling
Another interesting talk about shock waves
The second TRR80 YR workshop took place in Riva del Garda at lake Garda from June 9th to June 12th 2013. All "Young Researchers" were invited: PhD, diploma, master and bachelor students, as well as young postdocs. The program contained:

The organizing committee:
The YR workshop took place from 11. to 14. April 2011 at the Söllerhaus (http://www.söllerhaus.de) in Kleinwalsertal. It was intended to get together and to get to know each other. 27 YRs participated and a variety of talks was given from different fields of interest.
The organizing committee was:
